I just noticed that when using GMail on the iPhone, I can't delete a message like usual. Instead it gets "Archived" but it shows the picture of the trash can. Art imitating life? (This doesn't happen in other mail apps as far as I can tell, just GMail.)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwmASMh6jCRvtyOX_30zaGiDKQfx4pe3CdamjSwa4eSuXdcfki2Y1JajUVZ4H3DtLEQ3kbqRGhrH_OGumvVXk0EkI5zsR4EGw9T9qd-rw4RQpSt9Qhpkeeiy99fo8AqlAZwyXUo-szjtc/s1600/composite.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 357px; height: 297px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwmASMh6jCRvtyOX_30zaGiDKQfx4pe3CdamjSwa4eSuXdcfki2Y1JajUVZ4H3DtLEQ3kbqRGhrH_OGumvVXk0EkI5zsR4EGw9T9qd-rw4RQpSt9Qhpkeeiy99fo8AqlAZwyXUo-szjtc/s400/composite.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5490467255044164690" /></a>Tim Goralhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17561019383110629376noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1934540173062542406.post-1092136766402264732010-06-26T21:58:00.001-07:002010-06-27T04:58:30.636-07:00Great food, great pub<p class="mobile-photo"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhighctV1nFGLnCMfWw1wNHtCyHIEZcOVmxdKhCPt7mo8s6V9T9aeenEZQU3C7TV5yLxbD1iCjMhel4lVGAN5E3hzl_pjiLm2TK-uXGF10Di2SAhFNLOKYNV8sn_SMN8dNphGNDD5Jkwjg/s1600/image-799172.png"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhighctV1nFGLnCMfWw1wNHtCyHIEZcOVmxdKhCPt7mo8s6V9T9aeenEZQU3C7TV5yLxbD1iCjMhel4lVGAN5E3hzl_pjiLm2TK-uXGF10Di2SAhFNLOKYNV8sn_SMN8dNphGNDD5Jkwjg/s320/image-799172.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487313351512068018" /></a></p>If you live anywhere near Marbledale, CT, you owe it to yourself to check out the White Horse Country Pub and Restaurant. It's in the location of the former Marbledale Pub, itself a longtime landmark of the area. Relaunched by Englishman John Harris, the building has been completely gutted and remade into a British pub. And the food--with an English flair--is excellent. I had the Chicken Pot Pie (seen here), embellished with the pub's logo white horse. Not typical Summer fare I know, but delicious nonetheless. On the way home he said one eye was blurry. My wife looked and saw this, so they of course went back to the eye place. The doctor took one look and instantly realized what had happened. She had dilated the eyes of the patient before him, and must have had a tiny bit of mydriatic residue on her hand. His blue eyes are ultra-sensitive, hence the Bowie look, which I think is kind of cool.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj84DHBvY92lx3YSEpkGf91KoMFsnJ4DoElItAkIVoLgGc_c1lOtUb8yH7rh_HejDPpWSh3leybLPDR6V0wsF50bKmvbIJqx7pb6PDxI-uvT5dQSBO_te5GrioOTcwaz05RW11K4HeuAWY/s1600/DSC00617_2.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 216px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj84DHBvY92lx3YSEpkGf91KoMFsnJ4DoElItAkIVoLgGc_c1lOtUb8yH7rh_HejDPpWSh3leybLPDR6V0wsF50bKmvbIJqx7pb6PDxI-uvT5dQSBO_te5GrioOTcwaz05RW11K4HeuAWY/s400/DSC00617_2.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5486502556844868242" border="0" /></a>Tim Goralhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17561019383110629376noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1934540173062542406.post-4422149267910684452010-06-21T05:19:00.001-07:002010-06-21T05:19:42.868-07:00Holographic presenters<p class="mobile-photo"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhGkJmKi-otU_0mRw0-7nVOSUEgVKDKG5CztO-BjTIEQ61ptcHSVwIoiqAhf58rBtSnmOuXtwrCGaaoDpLAjmYTcNGhrtV-iXESbQjFsUs4cH8R7kfNP_pUqBaheWZFn0HdlDczz04II4/s1600/photo-782869.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhGkJmKi-otU_0mRw0-7nVOSUEgVKDKG5CztO-BjTIEQ61ptcHSVwIoiqAhf58rBtSnmOuXtwrCGaaoDpLAjmYTcNGhrtV-iXESbQjFsUs4cH8R7kfNP_pUqBaheWZFn0HdlDczz04II4/s320/photo-782869.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5485200583075253906" /></a></p>These two ghostly presenters were live somwhere in the convention <br>center, and could see and interact with us. So, to explain what's going here, I found this great book at the library celebrating the work of Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, two greats from the Golden Age of comics (and yes, this was before my time). My cousin and one of my friends from school got me hooked on comics as a kid. But I've never heard of some of the costumed crimefighters in the book, which makes it an even better find.<br /><br />Tim Goralhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17561019383110629376noreply@blogger.com1
